  • Description
TI's DRV2605 is a compact motor driver. It is not used to control stepper motors or DC motors, but specifically for controlling tactile motors, buzzers, or vibration motors. Normally, only these types of motors can be turned on and off, but this driver can have various effects when driving a vibration motor. For example, up and down movement vibration. Or even make the vibration follow the music/audio input.
After I2C control initialization, the chip can concatenate multiple effects' strings' in the chip memory and be triggered for continuous execution. The built-in effect is better than "open" and "close".
According to the product page, it can be used with both LRA (linear resonance actuator) and ERM (eccentric rotating mass) motors, but we only use our small vibration pancake ERM.
It is compatible with 3V and 5V power/logic and provides Arduino code that can be ported to any I2C supported processor.
